Once again we had a delightful Family Church Service, at Wymondham Abbey, by kind permission of the Vicar The Rev’d. Catherine Relf-Pennington S.S.M., where over 160 Brother Knights and their families enjoyed a most uplifting service, led by Fr. Stephen Sealy, Assistant Priest.
Fr. Andrew Slater, Curate, gave a most beautiful sermon, detailing the work of the St. Johns’ Eye Hospital, and how so many people had benefited from the help that the Knights Templar had given, and even saying that although he was not a Mason, how much he appreciated the help his Mother had been given, since the death of his Father some eighteen months ago, who was a Freemason in Felixstowe.
There were three readings, given by the Provincial Prior, V.E. Kt. John Elmore and E. Kt. David Adams, showing our link between the Christian Orders.
I must pay tribute to the Choir and the Organist who sang in magnificent fashion, and really made the whole service come to life, and are a real credit to the Abbey.
Once again we had a splendid tea provided for us by Housdens, one of our Masonic Caterers, at the Central Hall, Wymondham, where the Provincial Prior thanked everyone for their attendance, paying special thanks to E. Knights Colin Birkbeck and Richard Hawes, for their dedication in bringing it all together and making it all happen.
The Collection that went to Wymondham Abbey, was £500.00, so thank you and well done to all who were present and contributed such a magnificent sum.
