sclmMany of our Brother Knights have been asking me over the last several weeks, how do they get to know things that are happening within the Province, and of course I always answer, ‘On the website, of course.’

So several of them suggested that a better way of disseminating information, was for us to reintroduce a newsletter, to come out every two months, to impart the news and views of the members, their own Preceptories and indeed the Province, as I am certain that there are many things that we should all know about, but as in most things in Masonry we rely a good deal on the ‘grapevine,’ which as we well know is not entirely accurate, so here is our very own first edition, which we intend to send out, to all our members, via email through the Registrar’s or Vice Chancellor’s, every two months, which will be followed up by publication on the web site, for those of you who have not got an email address.

I hope that interesting statistics, like special events within the Preceptory, long service certificates, Provincial visits, Great Priory events as well as our own Church Service, Banquets and Provincial meetings will be notified to all, and hopefully this will act as a reminder, and spur even more to attend these prestigious events, so even more Brother Knights can enjoy the company of each other at our wonderful meetings. Why not encourage reciprocal visits with your opposite number, on a pay as you attend basis, with a Preceptory near you, to swell the numbers, and to make our meetings even more enjoyable.

Forthcoming Events

Many Brother Knights have expressed a desire to see more of the Malta Degree, so once again we have listened to you, and on Friday 13th. December (how appropriate) at Diss, we are holding a full Malta Degree ceremony which all Brother Knights are encouraged to attend, where hopefully we can all learm a great deal.

At our next Provincial meeting the Bodyguard will be increased by four or five, and it has been decided that they will accompany V.E. Kt. Bill Hagger or myself, to all Malta Installation meetings, so can all Registrars please send the relevant Summons to the Bodyguard, and this will start as from January 2020, and this is hoped will bring a greater emphasis to our Malta Meetings.

Great Priory

Over 22 Brother Knights attended Great Priory at Great Queen Street, London on Wednesday 15th. May where the meeting was tinged with sadness as we said farewell to our Great Seneschal, Very High and R. Em. Knight Malcom Ernest Slater. After he had been accorded a standing ovation we welcomed Andrew Christopher Rainbow G.C.C., Past Provincial Prior of Nottinghamshire, as the new Great Seneschal. We were then delighted to witness our Provincial Prior, R.E. Knight Stewart C.L. Middleton, being promoted to a Knight Commander of the United Orders. This was followed by E. Knights Chris Ansell and John S. Warne being appointed to the rank of P. Gt. C., Anthony K. Mason, being appointed to the rank of P. Gt. Chamb. and Peter D. Miles being promoted to P. Gt. Herald

Knight David Goode writes:

"Just back from a very enjoyable day cruise and lunch aboard, with a big group of 80 friends from the Knight Templar Province of East Anglia, on the Norfolk Broads. Boarded the Southern Comfort, a custom built paddle boat, at Horning, cruised down the River Bure, past the mouth of the River Ant, up the dyke opposite the ruins of St. Benet’s Abbey to South Walsham Broad, round the broad, and back onto the Bure. I then had the honour of taking the helm of Southern Comfort for the return journey, up the Bure onto the dyke leading to Ranworth Broad, round the broad back along the dyke and onto the Bure, and up to Horning again, handing back the helm for the last couple of hundred yards and the mooring up. Thank you Captain Chris, and thank you Stewart Middleton for the idea of a cruise. Great day!"
